Paper Drift Privacy Policy

Effective date: 28 September 2026

Paper Drift is an offline-first game with advertising and optional in-app purchases on Android and iOS: optional rewarded advertising, an interstitial ad between some runs, and coin packs, unlimited-energy passes and the removal of that interstitial for sale. It has no account of its own, no server of its own, and no developer-operated analytics service. When the player is signed in to Google Play Games (Android) it can post scores to that service’s leaderboards and keep a copy of the save in the player’s Google account; on iOS it can post scores to Game Center and keep a copy of the save in the player’s iCloud, as described below. Core play remains available when the device is offline, when no ad is available, without buying anything, and when the player is not signed in to either service.

Information stored on the device

The game stores the following information only in its private local storage:

  • the display name chosen by the player;
  • settings and accessibility preferences;
  • scores, records, ghosts, unlocks, levels, quests, Daily Drift history, and other play progress;
  • a random installation key used to detect accidental or casual save-file modification;
  • for purchases made in the game, what each purchase delivered (coins, unlimited-energy passes, ad removal) and the store’s purchase reference, kept so that a purchase is never delivered twice.

Paper Drift does not send the display name, save, scores, quest progress, ghosts, motion samples, or gameplay input to the developer or to the advertising SDK. Scores go only to Game Center or Google Play Games, as described under “Leaderboards”, and the save only to the player’s own Google Play Games or iCloud storage, as described under “Cloud save”. The optional tilt control reads device motion only to steer the plane; motion samples are not stored or transmitted. Haptic feedback uses the device vibrator and does not collect information.

The player can copy a readable version of their save from Settings > Data > Copy save data. That action places the data on the system clipboard at the player’s request.

SHARE on the results screen draws a picture of that run (score, depth or time, the plane the player flies) and opens the device’s own share sheet with it and a short message containing the store links. Nothing is sent unless the player picks an app in that sheet, and then it goes only where they send it; the game itself uploads nothing. Where no share sheet is available the message is copied to the clipboard instead. The picture is kept in the app’s private cache. The player can delete all game data with Settings > Data > Reset all progress, or by uninstalling the app.

Leaderboards (Game Center and Google Play Games)

When the player is signed in to Game Center on iOS or Google Play Games on Android, Paper Drift posts to that service’s leaderboards: the score of each finished Endless and Daily Drift run, and the time of each finished Time Attack course. On Android each score carries a short tag holding the run’s random seed and a fingerprint of its steering inputs, so a score can be checked for tampering; it contains no personal information. Runs flown in Slow Mode are not posted.

The game signs in through Apple’s or Google’s own sign-in, shown by the operating system, and does not store the player’s Game Center or Play Games identity. Scores appear on the leaderboards under the player’s Game Center or Play Games profile, and are handled by Apple under the Game Center and Apple privacy policy or by Google under the Google privacy policy. A player who does not sign in, or signs out in the device’s Game Center settings or the Google Play Games app, posts nothing.

Cloud save (Google Play Games and iCloud)

So that progress follows the player to a new phone, Paper Drift keeps one copy of the save in the player’s own cloud storage: Google Play Games Saved Games on Android, while the player is signed in to Google Play Games, and iCloud key-value storage on iOS, while the device is signed in to iCloud. The copy holds the play progress listed above — including the display name the player chose and the purchase references kept for delivered purchases — plus the model name of the phone that wrote it, so the game can show where a copy came from. Settings, accessibility preferences and the installation key are never uploaded.

The copy is stored by Google under the Google privacy policy or by Apple under the Apple privacy policy, in the player’s own account. The developer runs no server and cannot read it. A player who is not signed in keeps a save on the device only. To delete the cloud copy, the player can delete Paper Drift’s data from the Google Play Games app’s settings, or remove the app’s data under iCloud storage in the device’s settings; uninstalling the app does not remove it. Questions or deletion help: see “Contact”.

Advertising and network data

A player may choose to watch a Google AdMob rewarded ad for one extra Daily quest reroll, a revive in an Endless run (up to three a run), or a refill of the energy meter. Those ads are optional: closing one before earning its reward, being offline, or having no ad available leaves the normal game usable.

Paper Drift also shows a Google AdMob interstitial ad after a run has ended, at most once every ten minutes and never within five minutes of any other full-screen ad. It is never shown during play, never before the Retry button, and nothing in the game is withheld from a player who dismisses it. Paper Drift does not use banner or app-open ads.

Google’s Mobile Ads SDK automatically collects and shares information for advertising, analytics, and fraud prevention. Google documents this as including the device IP address (which may estimate general location), app/ad interactions such as launches, taps and video views, SDK diagnostic and performance information, and device or account identifiers such as advertising identifiers when available. Google says this data is encrypted in transit. See Google’s current Android Mobile Ads disclosure, iOS data disclosure guidance, and privacy policy.

Mobile builds use Google’s User Messaging Platform to request current consent information and show a privacy message where required before loading ads. Available ads may be personalized or limited according to the player’s consent, device settings, region, and the publisher’s AdMob configuration. The publisher must provide a way to reopen required privacy choices and keep the store Data Safety declaration aligned with the exact SDK configuration before release.

Daily quests use the device’s UTC clock. The Daily screen’s own board is a practice board: its other names and scores are simulated on the device, and the screen says so. Real Daily Drift scores exist only on the Game Center or Google Play Games leaderboard described above.

In-app purchases

Paper Drift sells optional coin packs, one-hour unlimited-energy passes, and the removal of the ad shown between runs. Every purchase is made through Google Play on Android or the App Store on iOS, using that store’s own purchase screen: payment details, the account that pays, receipts, refunds and parental purchase controls are handled entirely by Google or Apple under their own privacy policies (Google, Apple). The game asks the store for the product prices, opens its purchase screen, and receives only a purchase reference for what was bought. That reference is stored in the local save as described above and is not sent to the developer or to anyone else. Removing ads removes every advert, the optional rewarded videos included: their rewards are then given without an advert, and the advertising SDK is not started at all.

Children

The publisher must select and configure the target audience before enabling production ads. If children are included, the AdMob account, consent message, request flags, store declarations and ad content must all be configured for the applicable child-directed and families rules. Production ads remain disabled in source until that decision is complete.

Changes

This policy and the store’s Data Safety declaration will be reviewed whenever the advertising SDK, consent setup, mediation partners, or other network services change.
