Every mode, no signal needed

Endless tours the game’s worlds, a new one every 400 points, with a new shaft on every run.
Time Attack is 8 hand-built courses with checkpoints, a ghost of your best run and four medals each.
Daily Drift is one course a day, the same for everyone. It still works offline, and it’s always free.

No account, no server

Paper Drift has no account of its own and no server of its own. There’s nothing to sign up for and nothing to wait for: install it, open it and play. The Daily Drift’s course comes from the date itself, so the course you fly in airplane mode is the same one everyone else flies that day. It turns over at the same moment worldwide, and the Daily screen counts down to it.

What needs a connection

Three things: ads, the shop and the leaderboards. In practice that means the optional videos are unavailable while you are offline, so you can’t revive a run with a video or take the Daily’s extra run on a flight. If you own Remove Ads, those videos become plain buttons that pay on a tap, and they work offline as well.

Leaderboards and cloud save are extras. Your personal bests are always kept on the phone, and if you are signed in to Google Play Games or iCloud, the cloud copy of your save catches up once you are connected again.

Energy on a long trip

The energy tank holds 30 and refills one point every four minutes, with or without a signal. An Endless run costs 3 and a Time Attack attempt costs 1, so a full tank is ten Endless runs or thirty Time Attack attempts. Daily Drift and Race never cost energy.

Tips for playing on a plane, train or metro

Top up before you go. Take your free +5 energy for the day from the energy button, and check the Storage for rewards waiting for a tap on USE.
Pick a steady control scheme. On a bumpy train, Halves or the Steer Pad may be steadier than Tilt, which reads the phone’s motion.
Pause, don’t quit. Coins are banked when a run ends, and quitting from the pause screen keeps none. If your stop comes mid-run, pause and finish it later.
Mind your neighbours. Turn the music and sound down in Settings, or switch off haptics if the buzz is loud on a tray table.
Save battery in the menus. Settings has a Battery saver that caps the menus at 30 frames per second.
Try Slow Mode after a long day. It slows the whole game and still counts for your personal bests, though not for leaderboards.

Accessibility options that help anywhere

Paper Drift’s accessibility options work the same online or off:

Reduce Motion turns off shake, parallax, speed blur, camera zoom and every overshoot, and holds the title screen still.
High Contrast and Bigger UI make the shaft and menus easier to read in a dim cabin or bright sunlight.
Colour vision modes add shape coding: deadly beams gain a diagonal hatch.
Slow Mode slows the whole game without taking your bests away.
Three control schemes, a left-handed layout and haptics you can switch off.

Short runs, made for gaps in your day

A run in Paper Drift lasts as long as you do. The speed ramps up with your score and reaches its top around 70 points, so the game gets tense quickly, and when you crash, retry is instant: the run restarts in place and you’re falling again in a moment.
